A new one is added to lynch attempts that started in Mersin after 2005 Newroz and continued with Trabzon, Sakarya, Bozhüyük and lastly Erzincan.
Two gipsy children are complained by school director of professional high school for girls in Şuhut-Afyon on 29-04-2006 grounding that ‘annoyance to two girls’. Police caught the two children, who are complained, and took off to judicial court.
While these gipsy children, who were released by judicial court, were collecting scrap iron, the school director started to interrogate them, and then a quarrel appeared between school director and gipsy students. Bazaar artisans joined to quarrel and artisans beat the children also fired children’s’ vehicle.
About one thousand people chased the children who want to escape from venue. The children sheltered to shed, that their family live in. Persons wanted to fire the children with their family the police survived them at the last minute. Again the group started to attack to gipsy children and their family. Gipsies escaped and sheltered another house but group fired this house too. Kamiakam and mayor came to venue, studied to calm the group. These people, who put them in judiciary force although judiciary institutions find the children innocent attempt to give punishment to the gipsies. Sadly security forces could not prevent group who fired the children’s home and the house that they sheltered later.
Somehow Security forces that suppress the mass activities with killing many people from women to children in Diyarbakır and some other cities, are insufficient about lynch events.
It seems that lynch interference is not a reaction of the right minded society and it is put in circuit as a politic. This policy aims suppress and abate someone who belong to different cultures, different religions and languages.
We are calling the government to make invalid these nationalist and chauvinist lynches policy that are opposite to our decree that improve us to live together in a peaceful way with our differences. We are calling also all civil society who support democracy and labour to sensitivity.
Gipsy, Turkish, Kurdish, Laz, Georgian… all societies are brother.
Our differences are our richness.
