“The bombing attack which killed 6 people and injured more than 100 is a crime against humanity. We strongly condemn and curse the attack.”
Yesterday (22.05.2007), 6 people have been killed and 100 injured as a result of the blast in Ulus district of Ankara. It is definite that this attack aiming to create fear and panic in the society is a crime against humanity. We strongly condemn and curse the attack.
Because the attack have been realized in a time where important political and social conflicts are faced, the society is tried to be torn into camps, and an important test for democracy is undertaken; it shows that the target was democracy, human rights, and social peace.
Before anything else, what we all demand is the immediate arrest and prosecution of the responsibles of the incident.
We, as the human rights organizations, believe that struggle against terror and violence passes through democracy, rule of law, human rights and social peace. Therefore, any attitude, behaviour, and expression which will increase social tension, create polarization, and harm democracy and human rights should be avoided. Today, our country needs common sense more than ever.
We share the pain of those who lost their beloved, and wish health to the injured.
