As Human Rights Organizations, We Call Once Again For Releasing Of Kidnapped Policeman

As it is known, policeman Hakan Açıl was kidnapped by armed groups on 9 October 2005 at near Cizre. We never accept these actions that are contrary to Human Rights and Humanitarian Law and we will never accept.

After the application to Human Right Association on 24.10.2005 by father, Muammer Açıl, Human Right Association and father Açıl negotiated with the president of the parliament, Bülent Arınç, we asked help from Bülent Arınç in order not the violate Hakan Açıl’s right for life and about releasing. In this meeting, the foreign minister and vice prime minister, Abdullhah Gül, was also informed about the situation. Despite all calls, by us until today; he was not released during the last three month period.

The father Muammer Açıl applied also to Human Rights Association and Solidarity for Opposed People (Mazlum-Der) and asked help.

Our institutions, which accept human life as the most unsurpassed value, are calling once again for releasing of policeman Hakan Açıl by means of you for the honour of Kurban Bayram that will begin tomorrow. We are wishing releasing unconditionally of policeman Hakan Açıl in Kurban Bayram that is means of peace, happiness, friendship and tolerance. There are very important function and role of these days about providing social peace. We hope that this Bayram also will contribute for democratic, peaceful solution of the problems, developing social tolerance culture. Releasing of Hakan Açıl will provide an important ground for such a culture.

Regarding that there is not any care and ideology, which is more important than human life; we–Human Right Association and Solidarity For Opposed People and Human Rights Association-are waiting and wishing that our call will be taken into consideration.

Moreover, we call for not repeating these kinds of actions that are contrary to humanitarian law.
