Broadcast of Hayat TV station was ceased. Administrative organs start to make decisions for they consider themselves as judicial organs. Although we already criticize judiciary’s practice in regard to protecting citizens’ human rights and freedoms, there are administrative decisions as well.
There is always a difference between accepted and unaccepted thoughts in Turkey. There are always sanctions to those who have unaccepted thoughts. In addition to that there are imprisonments, exiles, prohibitions and blanking…
This is also a process which is about accomplishing the principle of rule of law or not. Accomplishing the principle of rule of law means; protecting human rights by means of law. Democracy is a pluralist system. Existence and legitimacy of differences (ethnic, religious, thought etc…) is not questioned in democracies. Rejecting the one that is different is inconsistent with democracy.
Hayat TV station should be able to broadcast freely. It should be able to express its opinion freely as well. It should not be subjected to pressure and punishment because of its opinions.
We protest pressures.
