Saddam Hussein’s Execution cannot be accepted; Life Right is Sacred and Untouchable for Everyone!

The whole world witnesses that dominant powers, which invade Iraq, brought sorrow, tear, death, unlawful and anti democratic implementations rather than democracy, though they claimed “They will bring democracy to Iraq”. The situation in Iraq is chaos and disorder not “democracy”.

Today, video record of Saddam Hussein’s execution distributed to whole world. As IHD (Human Rights Association) we stated many times that fair hearing principle should be practiced for Saddam and other administrators of dictatorship regime even though they committed offence against human. However, fair hearing principle was violated during the judicial process; their right of defence was not respected. So; perpetrators of all other offences against human, massacres, holocaust, torture and rapes, which were conducted against Kurds and other people, tried to be limited only Saddam Hussein. IHD states once again that punishment of Saddam Hussein should not have become execution no matter which crimes he committed. Execution of Saddam Hussein is the violation of life right, which is sacred, inviolable, and untouchable for everyone under any circumstances, is also offence against human.

After Saddam Hussein’s execution, there is a new dimension in Iraq regarding serious offences against human. After the execution searching for all perpetrators of serious offences against human, such as attempts to genocide against Kurds, massacres of Halabja and Enfal, systematic torture against people and systematic rapes against women in Iraq, is even shaded. The execution created an atmosphere as if perpetrators of all these crimes were found. However, the trial should have been continued in a fair manner and other perpetrators apart from Saddam Hussein should have been found and sentenced in accordance with international law. IHD (Human Rights Association) believes that other crimes (against human during the reign of Saddam) in Iraq will not be investigated. Moreover, IHD believes also that proofs were erased within Saddam’s execution and. IHD argues that some people want to cover-up the period (reign) with the execution of Saddam.

IHD worries that Saddam’s execution will, probably, increase disorder and chaos atmosphere. Problem in Iraq should be solved within a democratic Iraq, in which all people’s decree should be regarded and have right to determine their future.
