In Istanbul, The policemen fired against a group of people attempting to put posters in the street against F-type prisons. A young person was killed, another one was wounded.
11 December 2000 At 19.50 a police bus with sixty policemen was attacked by gunfire in Gazi Quarter of Istanbul. Two policemen were killed, eleven were wounded.
Ankara: The protest action against the F- Type Prisons taken place for death fast which has been continuing since 54 days was intervened forcefully by police forces together with civilians belonging to the Nationalist Movement Party’s youth organization. 9 were wounded. A university student suffers from brain trauma, several are under custody. The Freedom and Democracy Party (ODP) Ankara branch was kept under siege, families of convicts and prisoners, who were continuing hunger strike, were detained under harassment.
Istanbul: During the funeral of two policemen, thousands of police officers made a demonstration by using slogans “we will use our guns, we will take revenge by blood”. They also shouted “Damn with Human Rights!” The Human Rights Association condemns all violent actions and hopes that the newly achieved dialogue between the government and prisoners at death fast will continue unimpaired and peacefully. The Association is co-operating with political parties, professional associations, trade unions and other NOOs in inviting the government to stop the police violence and their use of the right-wing militants.
