Due to his activities regarded with human rights defending, Ali Tanrıverdi, President of İHD’s Mersin Branch, was taken into custody in Mersin on 12 December 2016 and arrested on 19 December 2016. The trial regarding Ali Tanrıverdi will be carried out in the Mersin 7th Heavy Criminal Court on 18 May 2017 at 11.00 o’clock.
In addition to being a serious violation of the freedom of expression and organisation, detention of Ali Tanrıverdi is contrary to the UN Declaration on Human Rights Defenders. In order to demand for the release of Ali Tanrıverdi and all other HRDs imprisoned in Turkey, we call all sensitive fractions for being in solidarity with Ali Tanrıverdi.
Again, in the person of Ali Tanrıverdi, we demand all human rights defenders be free!
