We will always remember Taybet İnan

We will always remember Taybet İnan

We are on the anniversary of one of the most painful days in our territory, where the processes of conflict have been going on for years.

Ten years ago, Taybet İnan, was killed by ten bullets in front of her house in Silopi, in Şırnak. Her body was left on the road for seven days. Her autopsy revealed that 10 fatal bullets had been fired into her body.

There was so much suffering during the curfews, which were announced in October 2015 and lasted until April 2016. One of the most painful of these sufferings was the murder of Taybet İnan.

A woman with 11 children was killed in front of her house by bullets fired by snipers. No one has yet been tried or convicted.

Should this had happened anywhere else in the world, people would have taken to the streets in protest. The death of a person in such a way, except for a certain group of people, were met with silence in the majority of the country.

We, as human rights defenders, have never forgotten #Taybet İnan’s death and her pain is always fresh in our minds. On the anniversary of her death, once again we wish to reiterate our demands for peace.

On the anniversary of Taybet İnan’s death, we, as human rights defenders, would once again like to emphasise the importance of peace.

We have not forgotten Taybet İnan and we will continue to pursue her case.

We are determined to keep fighting for human rights until there is an end to the policy of impunity.

We will keep demanding peace.
