Whoever plans-provokes or takes part in; the result of the violence, clash incidents does not change. Citizens, including little children, are wounded, killed. Moreover, the media’s broadcasting suspicious information, the responsible foundations’ statements; these will affect judicial process, obstructing the judicial processes, and evaluating the incidents through one dimension lead citizens to fear and insecurity.
The spreading probability of violence and clash incidents, which is in all Southeast cities, to all over the country is a great problem for all of us. The insisting on the solving country problems, especially Kurd Problem, via pressure and violence methods brings nothing except for deadlock. This game will cause to these dark results in the first phase:
-democratic improvements, which have gained since 2001, will be removed one by one.
-the scandal in Şemdinli will be hidden up.
-the legislations (like general health insurance), which have close concern to people’s welfare will be passed easily, without negotiating by society, through the Parliamentary.
As a result of these fears We have joined to search and make known the realities (these are tried to be covered) of democratic and human rights breaches, beginning from Şemdinli incident, in the Turkey.
The fear atmosphere in the statements, which are made by Istanbul Police Chief, is quite suitable to pass anti-democratic legislations, whose background is being prepared, through the Parliamentary. Actually, the statement by Minister of Justice in a great newspaper on 31 March 2006 is the most concrete indication of this fear. The statement by Minister of Justice is that “if there is a defect in present legislations and our foundations need such a change, of course we will make the change”.
Şemdinli incident, which occurred after Susurluk scandal, shows that for society’s security and peace, there is a necessary to search these incidents deeply and investigate urgently in a manner in which, there is no purpose except for make known the realities. During the process the inspectors should not care privilege from arrest.
The international dimension of the clash atmosphere in our country is also very important. The atmosphere compels Turkey to take part in military operation against Iran and makes stronger USA and its supporters’ positions.
The cost of national security is not democracy and human rights. A state, which does not care basic rights of citizens, cannot conduct the national security. The condition for supporting the state in a joined feeling by citizens is that being democratic and social law state.
According to this point of view;
We call for our citizens to:
-opposing to all violence incidents and abusing force,
-opposing to attempts for obstructing the justice, persons, who make statements for prejudice and hate, and false news,
-preventing the anti-democratic legislations that are because of clash atmosphere;
-being careful about attempts (as a result of abusing the clash atmosphere) to pass legislations, which cause poverty for people, destruct economy, through the Parliament,
-opposing to international attempts (as a result of abusing the clash atmosphere), which will lead Turkey to take part in war with its neighbours,
-supporting democratic and peaceful initiatives.
We call for all our citizens, who share the same fear and principle, to attempt in this manner.
